Double serving tournaments in Florida

After a short playing break, spent mainly fulfilling obligations to sponsors and partners, but also treating a sudden illness, Klára Spilková returns to the tournaments of the American Epson Tour.

She will have two starts in Florida in a short time. Since she lives in the “Sunshine State”, it will now be easier with travel.

„On the other hand, Florida is now very hot, 35 degrees Celsius and very humid. A storm comes every afternoon“, Klára remarked on the conditions.

First tournament participation is at IOA Golf Classic in Longwood, where three rounds are played from 20th to 22nd of May. The week after is followed by Inova Mission Inn Resort and Club Championship in Howey-In-The Hills. Both tournaments have prize money in total 200 000 USD as usual, with a cut after the second round.

„ I was more than one week sick, I could not practise in Czech and I had to move my departure for the tournament. Then I fought a bit with jet lag here,”added Klára.

In Longwood is played in Alaqua Country Club golf field with a par 71 and a length of 5,593 meters. The last two winners always had a score of 10 under par. Former tournament champions include Australian Hannah Green (2017) and Spanish Marta Sanz Barrio (2019), who played 13 under par.

„The golf field is typical Florida, that means flat. The tee is a little bit narrower, but relatively shorter. I am really looking forward to playing the tournament“, said Klára Spilková.

This year’s participants again include Marta Sanz Barrio, as well as, for example, American Kelly Whaley, who is also playing the Ladies European Tour this year, or Australian Gabriela Ruffells, winner of US Women’s Amateur 2019.
